Recession? Ya Think!?

I don't know about you but I am having a difficult time with the price increases in everything.

This past month I sunk $85 into a gauge/alarm for my fuel oil tank as I learned they would not deliver due to some new law. My husband installed it himself to save money.

We also had to get a new cap for the darn tank as it was flat and screwed in we were told water was seeping in. That was another $60. This was a new tank bought in 2003 btw. We were also told to keep our tank filled due to condensation.

We can't afford kero at near $4 a gallon. We have been making trips to the gas station with every paycheck and spend $60-$75 which really doesn't fill the tank at all in our cold region as it's being used all the time.

I seriously wonder how people who are on fixed incomes can make it? I hear the same things from most of my friends. The middle class is disappearing, they can't pay for their food, medical, and just basic necessities.

I wonder how this little money that Bush is working on will help the economy? It's gonna go right in my oil tank. What will be left over? I suppose will go to my mounting credit card bills.

Whole Foods Phasing Out Plastic Grocery Bags

I am very pleased with Whole Foods Market for phasing out plastic bags by Earth Day which is in April. My nearest location is 50 miles away and I have never been to their store. I do get their e-newsletter though. If gas prices were cheaper I would make that trip. I have always wanted to go there.

We do have a Giant Food Store and I hope they eventually go the same way as Whole Foods.

How to Recycle Your Used Electronics

The Consumer Electronics Association, which represents electronics manufacturers, encourages people to recycle their e-waste, and has set up a handy Website to make the process simple. Log on to mygreenelectronics.org, where you can search for local recycling drop-off points by zip code and product category. You'll also find tips and info on electronics recycling, and a cool energy calculator that will show you how much juice each product uses.
